Join us for a nice fall ride to Somerville’s famous annual HonkFest: “An awesome annual 3-day free festival bringing brass bands from all over the United States and the world to Somerville for a celebration of music, community and activism.” We’ll bike through Watertown, around part of Fresh Pond in Cambridge and on to Davis Sq. in Somerville, arriving around noon or shortly after to join the marching band parade to Harvard Square. Once in Harvard Sq., we can hear a couple of bands, get a bite to eat, and then head back to Newton.
Meet in front of the Star Market on Austin St. in Newtonville, and we’ll leave at 11:00 am. This is a family-friendly, “no-rider-left-behind” ride and all ages are invited, but all young children must be accompanied by an adult. Bike helmets are required. 16.5 miles roundtrip. Be sure to check bikenewton.org for last-minute changes.
