Bike Newton invites you to join us for a ride sponsored by the MAPC (Metropolitan Area Planning Council).  This ride is designed to help you experience new greenways and/or learn about new or proposed projects in the Newton area.  This is just one of a series of rides all around the Boston area allowing you to experience and learn about new projects to expand the bicycling network.  See the Newton ride and the full listing  here :  https://www.mapc.org/resource-library/2024-greenway-ride-series/

MAPC notes about this Newton ride: There are a number of projects in Newton underway to significantly improve the bike and walk network, though also a few challenges to overcome. This ride will travel through a number of these locations. Completed projects include the Comm Ave Carriage Rd and Albemarle Rd.  Underway projects include Comm Ave in Auburdale, Hammond Pond Parkway, and the LaSelle Bridge… Post ride food/beverages will be near Riverside Park on the Charles.

Meet at the the Blue Bikes rack at the bus terminal in Watertown Sq. (Galen St.)  at 5:00 pm, Thursday June 13.  We will make multiple stops to hear from people  representing groups and municipalities that are working to expand the network. The ride will end approx. 7:00 pm.

This is a family-friendly, “no-rider-left-behind” ride and all ages are invited, but all young children must be accompanied by an adult. Bike helmets are required.  11 miles total.   Be sure to check bikenewton.org (or the MAPC website above) for any last-minute changes.
