Bike Newton invites you to join us for a fairly short but very informative group ride to the Sustainable Street Tour in Waban, presented by Newton’s grass-roots activist environmental group Green Newton. We will start the ride on Sunday, June 2nd at 1:00pm, leaving from the Newton Free Library on Homer St. in Newton Center. We’ll bike to the start of the house tour in Waban, meeting at the Green Newton table on Montclair Rd., then cycle from house to house (see Map here), talk to owners of the houses, and volunteer experts who will be there. We’ll have a Bike Newton table set up as well on Montclair Rd. and riders are invited to stay and help staff the BN table for a bit! The full event runs from 1pm to 4pm. For those riders who would like to get back to the library sooner, we’ll have a group of riders heading back between 2 and 2:30.
Green Newton requests that those visiting the Sustainable Street Tour RSVP, so you can receive event updates and any changes due to weather. However RSVP is not a requirement to participate!
Meet in front of the Newton Main Library on Homer St. in Newton Center, and we’ll leave at 1:00pm. This is a family-friendly, “no-rider-left-behind” ride and all ages are invited, but all young children must be accompanied by an adult. Bike helmets are required. 4 miles roundtrip. Be sure to check bikenewton.org for any last-minute changes.
