Newton Group Bike Ride

Join us for a relatively short and family-oriented ride though the streets of several Newton villages: Newtonville, Newton Center, Newton Upper Falls, Newton Highlands and Oak Hill, including the Newton Highland Greenway.    Meet at Star Market on Austin St. in Newtonville, and we’ll leave at 10:00 am.  This is a family-friendly, “no-rider-left-behind” ride and all ages are invited, but all young children must be accompanied by an adult.  Bike helmets are required.   10 miles roundtrip.  Be sure to check bikenewton.org for last-minute changes. Starting in Newtonville, we'll ride along the Charles River to Harvard Square in Cambridge, then head up Concord Ave. to Fresh Pond.  We'll partially circle the pond and head back towards Watertown on the  Watertown-Cambridge Greenway.  Before arriving at Watertown Square, riders will have the option of stopping for lunch at Joyful Garden in the Watertown Mall for some of the best dim sum available outside of Chinatown.   Whether you want to stop at Joyful Garden or go directly back to Newtonville, ride leaders will be available in both cases. A nice ride from Newton Center through south Newton, Brookline and West Roxbury to Millennium Park, by the Charles River.    Meet at the Newton Free Library on Homer St. in Newton Center, and we’ll leave at 2:00 PM.   The group can decide how much exploring around the park they'd like to do once we get there.  This is a family-friendly, “no-rider-left-behind” ride and all ages are invited, but all young children must be accompanied by an adult.  Bike helmets are required.   13 miles roundtrip.  Be sure to check bikenewton.org for last-minute changes. Join us for a spring bike ride on Sunday, April 21st as we celebrate Earth Day 2024 at Newton North High School, presented by Newton's own incredible environmental organization Green Newton.  There will be all sorts of activities, information, exhibits, music and fun from 12 noon to 4pm. Join us for an excellent group ride to the 46th Annual Wake up the Earth Festival in Jamaica Plain, taking place in the Southwest Corridor Park.  After taking a rest and getting a bite to eat there, we'll continue for a tour through Arnold Arboretum, and then head back to Newton.  You'll see how easy it is -- and fun -- to get to Jamaica Plain visit a cool outdoor festival, have a picnic and go to the Arboretum -- all without a car! Bike Newton invites you to join us for a fairly short but very informative group ride to the Sustainable Street Tour in Waban, presented by Newton's grass-roots activist environmental group Green Newton.   We will start the ride on Sunday, June 2nd at 1:00pm, leaving from the Newton Free Library on Homer St. in Newton Center.  We'll bike to the start of the house tour in Waban, meeting at the Green Newton table on Montclair Rd., then cycle from house to house (see Map here), talk to owners of the houses, and volunteer experts who will be there.  We'll have a Bike Newton table set [...]

Join us for a fairly easy and short ride to a bike path along the Upper Charles River Reservation, and using the Newton Highlands Greenway.  We'll meet at the Newton Free Library at 330 Homer St. in Newton Center, and leave at 10am Saturday.  The weather looks great, so this should be a great warm-up for a summer full of biking!
