Newton Group Bike Ride

The classic Chinatown ride is back!   Join us for a nice ride along the Charles River to the Hatch Shell, past the Public Gardens and through a bit of downtown Boston to Chinatown for a bite to eat.  We'll go for a taste of Dim Sum at the large and airy Empire Garden, or a similar venue.  Riders have the option of either biking back to Newtonville with the ride leader or putting their bikes on the commuter rail from nearby South Station. Join us for a ride that brings together two of life's pleasures:  Biking and Banh Mi sandwiches!   We'll ride from the Newton Free library on Homer St. in Newton Center down the Commonweath Ave. carriage lane, around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir in Brighton and back to Newton Center on Beacon St.  Not a long ride, but there are a couple of good hills which should improve your appetite.  In Newton Center we'll stop at Pho Viet for a take-out Banh Mi sandwich for lunch, and enjoy it at the Newton Center Green.  (Or, for those who would prefer a slice of pizza, Sweet Tomatoes [...]

Join us for a multi-modal ride to the Boston Waterfront and Boston Harbor on Labor Day morning.     We'll bike from Newtonville through Allston, Brighton and Boston to Central Wharf at the Aquarium, and board an MBTA ferry to Winthrop Landing  at 9:45 (with stops on the way at Logan and Seaport).  Ferry arrives in Winthrop at 10:30am.  We'll take a bike tour of the scenic sights of Deer Island, and return to the dock for a return trip 12:15pm.  With stops at  Quincy and Seaport, we'll return to the Aquarium at 1:15pm. Bahn Mi Ride #1 turned out to be so popular, we decided to try Bahn Mi Two.   This ride would take us from Newtonville, and along the scenic Charles River, across the BU Campus, and then to Pho Viet's in Allston to sample their highly-rated Bahn Mi sandwich.  We would then return through Allston and Brighton back to Newton. Meet at Star Market at 33 Austin St. in Newtonville. and we'll depart at 10:30 am Saturday Sept. 19.
